THE SPANISH FOOTBALL
The Spanish style of play is referred to as ‘Tiki-Taka’ and is characterized by short passing, patience, and a high importance on possession.Through forming triangles of passing lanes and making smart and easy passes, the Spanish hope to have at least 70% possession every game.
This style of play requires patient, intelligent, technically sound players who work well together. The whole strategy revolves around the idea that the opponent cannot win if they never have the ball and that continuous possession will eventually wear defenses down.
Spain's achievements from 2008-2012 have led many experts and commentators to consider Spain's squads of this era as one of the best teams in football history.
During this period, Spain became the only national team to win three consecutive major titles, including two back-to-back European Championships in 2008 and 2012, while becoming the first European team to win a World Cup held outside of Europe in 2010.
Spain's women's national football team is also dominating, winning the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
